Statewide Invasive Lionfish Awareness & Removal Weekend

Designated to be an annual event (established to be the first Saturday after Mother's Day each
year), this weekend is to be dedicated to statewide lionfish removal and awareness activities.
Coastal counties around the state will be harvesting lionfish in an attempt to remove as many of
the invasive critters as possible. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is
encouraging all divers to remove as many lionfish on the weekend of May 16-17, no matter where
they are in Florida. REEF joins the Postcard Inn at Holiday Isle to host a removal event, May 16.
